Why choose LifeCare for Medically Complex Respiratory Patients?

Our Early Mobility program gets patients up and moving while on the ventilator as soon as possible.

Research has shown that this approach is a key to successful weaning.

The Pulmonary Program at LifeCare was developed to provide complex medical care, needed education regarding respiratory conditions, and a supportive rehabilitation program. Our pulmonary team uses an aggressive approach to healing which includes:

  • ACLS and ICU Trained Respiratory Therapists on site 24/7

  • Daily Monitoring by Pulmonary and Intensivist Physicians

  • ICU Level Care

  • Vent Weaning protocols initiate within 24 to 48 hours of admission

  • Multi-Disciplinary team conference regarding care plan

  • Home ventilator and tracheostomy care education provided by nursing and RT teams

  • Tracheotomy/bronchoscopy/cryoblation procedures can be performed on site

Our focus on early and customized intervention often results in a shortened recovery process and improved outcomes for many of our patients. Our level of care will always include:

  • Access to specialty physician care

  • 24 hour physician oversight/intervention

  • ACLS and Critical Care Certified Nursing Staff

  • Onsite Lab and Radiology for diagnostic testing

  • Respiratory Therapy staff check vent settings every 2 hours to adjust weaning as appropriate

  • Multiple Physical Therapy sessions each day which are broken down into shorter more tolerable increments

  • Dedicated Case Management team to assist with discharge and long-term planning.
